Carmel Valley Real Estate
Carmel Valley is just east of Del Mar, within 10 minutes of the beach. This
is an area of new homes, with new schools and shopping centers. The
school district is tops, with Torrey Pines High School frequently taking
the top scores for the county.
Carmel Valley is also very close to the main technology center in San Diego,
Sorrento Valley. In other words, if you were coming to San Diego to
take a job in one of our software, biotech, or communications industries,
there's a good chance it would be in Sorrento Valley. And if you asked
me where you could find a newer home in a great school district close to
work, I would have to say Carmel Valley. I can also describe it like
this: if you start in downtown San Diego and head north, what's the first
new housing you come to? Carmel Valley.
With all this going for it, you would expect prices to be high, and
you would be right. Many home buyers in this area consist of two
wage earners in high tech jobs. Detached home prices start in
the high $600K range for this area.
There are also many townhomes in Carmel Valley, starting in the $400Ks.
This is a way to get all the conveniences of being close
to work, close to the beach, and close to downtown San Diego at
a reasonable price. I have clients of all ages who have chosen
this option.
At the other end of the scale, on the eastern side of Carmel Valley there is a new
3,800 acre community of luxury homes called Santaluz. This is a gorgeous area with a Rees Jones
championship golf course,
a 19,000 square foot community center, and many other amenities.
